Educational Drum Workshops
for Teachers and Youth Workers

All of the following drum workshops can be tailored and delivered to meet particular customer needs.

Depending on what you're looking for, they can be combined to provide a unique, fun, learning experience.

Drum workshops can be from 3 hours to a full day to a whole weekend, or even spread over several weeks of evenings as an adlut learning/evening class.

Drum workshops can also be tailored to particular age groups, for example the key stages of the National Curriculum, youth groups, parent and child groups, etc.

There is substantial evidence of the effectiveness of music in aiding learning. For young children in particular, music can be extremely valuable in enhancing personal, social and educational development.

Hands On Drumming for Teachers Workshop

This drum workshop is designed specifically for teaching and support staff, youth workers and instructors who wish to expand on their music skills and teaching skills in a classroom or youth group setting.

The system I have devised is a graphically-based hand drumming system requiring no previous musical knowledge or experience. It is therefore  highly accessible and ideal for primary students and older students/people with mild learning difficulties. However, I have successfully used this system in teaching hand drumming to individual students and drumming groups of all ages and abilities.

My "system" has been tested on individuals and groups of all sizes and will enable you to teach hand drumming to up to 30 pupils quickly, consistently and easily.

Course Description

The purpose of the Hands on Drumming For Teachers Workshop is to enable teachers to confidently and successfully teach basic hand drumming and other school percussion in a group setting.

Hand drumming includes a range of techniques that, once learned, can be adapted and applied to many drums or struck/shaken instruments.

The graphical systems employed are designed to be an effective introduction to conventional musical notation applicable to world and ethnic percussion. However, previous knowledge is neither required nor assumed.

The subject matter of this workshop integrates well with many subjects of the National Curriculum, including music, dance, drama, art, design, cultural diversity and physical education.

The Hands on Drumming For Teachers Workshop is a carefully structured, self-contained, one day course, delivered at your school or workplace and includes full teacher notes, lesson plans, printable cue cards and graphics - everything you need with the exception of instruments and earplugs!

On completion of this workshop, attendees will recieve a certificate of attendance.
